Hello, my friend. Welcome back to the Modern Hairstylist Podcast. We have a juicy episode today. I am going to be sharing with you 30 different ways that you can use ChatGPT to make your life as a business owner and as a human being so much easier, and even use it not just to make it easier, but also to make it even better.

Whether you've heard of ChatGPT and you've been using it or not up until this point, I promise you that by the end of this episode, there will be things that you are like, "Holy shit, I never even thought to use ChatGPT in that way." This isn't just about captions, social media captions, and emails today. There are so many other ways that you are not using this tool that you absolutely could benefit from if you decided to. So, I really recommend that whether you're, like, super experienced with ChatGPT or you haven't really touched it and explored it yet, that you listen all the way through, because we have some amazing tips that I'm gonna be giving you today.

And the good news is you do not have to take your own notes, so pay attention here. I'm gonna be sending you this list for you, so that way, you don't have to write all this stuff down as you listen through. And I'm gonna be sending it to you through your email if you go to hunterdonia.com/chat.

Hunterdonia.com/chat, or if you just click that link in the show notes of this episode, we're gonna be sending you over that list for free, so that way you don't have to take your own notes, okay? So, what I want you to do right now is pause this episode, go to that link, put in your information so I can send you these notes, and then come back so that way I can walk you through all of the ideas, all right? So, if you're ready to get into it, let's go.

What's the tea, friend? My name's Hunter Donia, industry business educator for hairstylists, but my friends just call me Hunty. Whether it be growing your clientele, making more money, or automating and streamlining your systems, in the next 20 minutes or so, you'll be hearing realistic, actionable strategies to create a beautiful career for yourself behind the chair. So, if you're ready to get into it, welcome to the Modern Hairstylist Podcast.

Okay, my friends, so you may be thinking to yourself, "Hunter, it is taking you so long to finally talk about artificial intelligence. I thought you were the automation, the systems, the technology guy in the industry. Like, why are you just now talking about AI?" And the reason why is because I really take this platform seriously, and I wanted to give this whole concept some time to simmer and evolve before I ever possibly even spoke about it to people, you know?

Um, there was a lot of que- there's still a lot of questions about the legality and the intellectual property and copyright infringement and all the things around ChatGPT, so I wanna make sure that you understand and that you agree to, by listening to this episode, hearing me right now talk about this, that, uh, this is f- just for educational and entertainment purposes only. I'm not necessarily advising you to do anything, and any actions that you take after this are solely your own responsibility, all right? So, take that into consideration. But now that this tool has been widely popular and be- and very well-known and used for so long, I feel a little bit more confident, and also much more experience in, in being able to share with you tons of amazing ways to use this tool, and, uh, we're gonna get into those today.

Before I do finally get into those 30 ways, I also just wanna share with you from the top of this, you know, I, I think that, you know, all of the, all 30 of these, uh, tips are gonna be fantastic for you. However, I think what these 30 tips are also going to illuminate is the need for you to still understand the foundations and fundamentals of business in order for these to work for you. I just did a ChatGPT master class with my students, and it was so much more of a productive conversation to give them suggestions on how to use it, because they already had systems in place that they could now maximize ChatGPT with. So, for example, like, w- you know, the classic basic one that everybody knows about already that I, I, uh, that, you know, we're gonna be talking about much more than this today, is writing social media captions, right?

You can't have ChatGPT write a good social media caption for you if you don't understand yourself your, your marketing foun- fundamentals, your ideal client profile, their pain points, attributes, objections, who you're targeting, what their d- what the demographic is, et cetera, et cetera. So, this, this tool, artificial intelligence in general doesn't take away all of the work for you. However, what it does is it enhances the fundamentals that you already have. So, just take that into consideration, right?

If AI is here, and AI is not going anywhere, I don't think it's necessarily ever gonna replace the need for you to stay educated, to make sure that you understand those foundations, you have them set up so that way you can actually maximize this tool, and it's never gonna replace you as a hairdresser, at least not in the short coming years ahead. So, just take that in consideration as well. There are right ways to use this tool, there are wrong ways to use this tool, per se, quote unquote, and there's ways to maximize it really well. Um, so just, uh, take all that into consideration, and if you're ever interested, I dive much deeper into the strategy with using ChatGPT to get the answers that you want within my programs, um, so if you wanna learn more about what I have to offer, hunterdonia.

com is where you can find out all that stuff, but without further ado, let's finally get into this list. The very first way that I have to use ChatGPT is responding to bad reviews. This is a really difficult situation. It sucks.

It's super emotional, right? I have an entire episode of the Modern Hairstylist Podcast about responding to negative feedback, and when we talk about negative reviews, especially online ones, what you wanna do is is you wanna think about all of the people who will read it in the future. You don't necessarily want to think about the person who you're responding to as much, okay? And what ChatGPT can do for you is help you remove the emotion from that response and make it so that you can very easily, professionally come up with words that will be optimized and actually help you grow your business in the way that you respond.

So, I think that ChatGPT is a really excellent way to figure out how you can respond to an online public review, whether that be on your Google My Business, on your Facebook page, your Yelp, whatever it may be. Another way is help with enforcing or explaining your policies. So, let's say that- that you are forced to enforce your cancellation policy. Although the way that I teach people how to handle no-shows and last-minute cancellations is we just avoid all of them in the first place so you never have to enforce it, but let's say you have to explain it, right?

Or let's say that you do have to end up enforcing it. Then ChatGPT can help you do that in a really excellent, professional, kindest way possible with great customer service skills, without you having to overthink or, again, have emotions as a part of the way that you're responding because I know that I really struggle with that sometimes, especially if the person was really disrespectful to me or like pissed me off , right? And last minute no-shows and cancellations are infuriating sometimes. So, sometimes, uh, having, like, a- a non-biased robot to be able to take care of that labor for us and to be able to remove the emotion I think is a really brilliant, excellent thing to lean into, and that's a common theme with a lot of the suggestions that I have here today.

Um, help with addressing poor personal feedback. So, let's say this wasn't an online review. Let's say somebody, like a, um, a- you were having a difficult conversation with one of your clients in one way or another. They were upset about your price increase, they were upset about the way that you're scheduling, whatever it may be.

Then you could copy the response that somebody gives you or the- the conversation that you guys are having, and then you can ask ChatGPT to help you turn the conversation in the right direction, or how to respond and close it out in a way that will be most successful to maintaining your reputation, getting your point across, et cetera, et cetera. And then that goes alongside helping with enforcing boundaries in general. So, let's say that you do not want to, uh, come in early, stay late on your days off, and you want to say no to Karen about coming in, although maybe it's her son's wedding, and she really wants to look good, and this is the only time that it'll work for her, but that is not within your work hours. This is a great way to come up with that verbiage that you can say but still maintain professional.

Use ChatGPT, tell it exactly what you're trying to do, give it the words that the person shared with you, and tell it what your intentions are, the why behind it, and then, uh, let it take care of it for you. Maybe edit the response and then send it back to Karen, and then everybody will win at the end of the day. Negotiating deals. So, this is really great for any type of deals that you're doing.

I know that sometimes us hairdressers, um, especially ones who are really heavy with social media, sometimes we get, like, influencer deals, right? So, sometimes, like, uh, an influencer company, marketing agency, something like that will be like, "Hey, can you feature our product on your page?" Um, "We'll pay you however much money," and then this will help you, right, you could put in what's going on and what they're asking of you. This can help you, uh, with the verbiage around the negotiation, the different things to consider, how much money you could possibly charge.

Uh, it may have even information about general industry standards across the board from its sources. Um, so I think negotiating in one way or another, uh, in any way, shape, or form, um, using ChatGPT as an assistant to help you in that negotiation, um, I think is a brilliant, brilliant idea. Other ways to iron out business initiatives, business growing initiatives, such as giveaways, right? Um, I'm a big proponent- proponent of doing, like, a small business giveaway collaboration, um, having ChatGPT help you with the ideas and the details of each of those things, all the things that you can consider.

Even asking ChatGPT what, uh, what questions to ask you, or asking it for it to come up with some questions to ask you to help you come up with some decisions around the idea that you have. That's another really beautiful way to use the program for all the things. So, um, helping you iron out a giveaway or a referral program, helping you come up with the details and the execution of a referral program. Most referral programs today are outdated and dinosaurish and really do not work well.

Um, so I'm a big fan of the modern ones that we teach within my programs, but ChatGPT can help you with creating one in one way or another. Local networking strategies. So, let's say that you have a clientele that's really big on word of mouth or you have a pretty tight-knit community or maybe, like, a smaller space that you live in, uh, or- or a city that you live in. I think local networking strategies work really well within those circumstances, and I think that ChatGPT can really help you with ideas of how you can creatively go about that, right?

Um, so ironing out the details of that and the strategies around that. Prioritizing tasks. So, maybe there's a bunch of things that you want to do in your business, maybe this year, right? At the time of recording this, we're still kind of at the beginning of this year, in- in Q1, and maybe you have a bunch of different ideas and- and a bunch of different things that you're like, "Oh, I ought to do this finally in my business," or, "This is the year that I do X," right?

But you have a bunch of different places and things to do and you don't know where to start. You could talk to ChatGPT, list out all the things that you want to do, and then ask it to prioritize it with, uh, in order of biggest impact with the least amount of effort, I did that actually recently, and therefore it can tell you and- and h- help you figure out what you should focus on now versus focus on later. Uh, alongside that, organizing your schedule and your calendar in a way that is optimized for your work style. So, whether that be when it comes in- when you take into consideration family obligations, um, and other personal events alongside maybe admin day tasks and how you're blocking out each of your hours of your day, or how you are scheduling clients and f- and doing the Tetris puzzle of each of your clients and how you can fit them in, right?

Um, I think organizing a schedule is a really beautiful way to use ChatGPT because it can just take all this confusing information that seems so overwhelming in our brain and lay it out in such a more beautiful way or in a way that will make things make more sense to you, right? So, um, using it to organize your calendar, your schedule, or plan out your days I think is a really brilliant way to use it. Then we go into goal planning. So, I love ChatGPT, um, and its help in helping me with planning my goals for 2024 because it can ask you a bunch of different questions, right?

You can ask it to ask you a bunch of questions or ask it what you should take in consideration or how you should go about planning out your next year and your business or even in your life, and then helping you come up with a plan for how you actually execute those things. And you can have, like, a conversation with ChatGPT, too. Like, it can be a back and forth. So, I love that.

Like, you have your own personal assistant to help you- walk you through goal planning for your next year or whatever timeframe that you would like to. I think that's a really cool way to use it. Policy creation. So let's say that you have a difficult time coming up with the policies in your business.

I teach a whole lot about policies. I have a ton of episodes about policies. We have an advanced policy template in the hairstylist template vault that really covers your ass in a lot of different situations. But I think that ChatGPT can be really helpful with coming up with the verbiage around those things, uh, the different things that you should take in consideration.

So this can help you come up with your salon policies. Um, also, this is not legal advice for this next one, for neither your policies or contracts, but contract creation. You know, I think that ChatGPT can be really helpful with coming up with very basic contracts that you don't r- necessarily need to consult a lawyer with. Although, officially, on record, I recommend that you talk to a lawyer about every single situation, talk to a professional.

I'm not a professional, and ChatGPT isn't either. But not gonna lie, I've used, I've used ChatGPT for content creation before and it's been pretty, pretty impressive. So an example of this could be, if you're trading services with another, uh, service provider, so let's say that you want to get a branding photo shoot with a photographer, and in exchange you're going to do their hair, right? You can have a contract to solidify that, and you can create it really easily within ChatGPT, and it'll cover all your bases for the most part.

I think that having basic understanding of contracts and laws and being, uh, kind of familiar with that stuff can be very helpful in, in helping you come up with a really foolproof one. But it is something to consider as a way that you can use the platform. The next two ways to use this, I'm absolutely obsessed with for your personal life. The first way is meal prepping and recipes.

Oh my God. The reason I love this for meal prepping and recipes is because you can ask it for such specifics. And, you know, if you go onto a Pinterest page with a recipe on it, you can't talk back and forth with the chef to come up with that, that recipe for your own personal needs and the amount of people that you're feeding and the days that, uh, you want it to go out to and the different dietary restrictions and whatever it may be, right? But with ChatGPT, you can go back and forth and you can collaborate with it to come up with that for you.

And then you can go as far as getting the entire recipe, the step-by-step, even asking it questions about the recipe if you're confused about something. And then my next way to use this on top of this is asking it for the grocery list as well. What I like to do is I like to ask it for the grocery list, exactly the amounts of things there are, uh, that I need for each of those groceries. And also to categorize it by aisle as well within the grocery store, so that way I can really easily, uh, come up with my shopping list and I can just get that shit done really quickly.

I freaking have loved this for meal prepping. It has been a game-changer for me personally. Another way that you can use this is ingredient inspection and explanation. So let's say that you're a little bit more eco-conscious.

Let's say that you have a client who's allergic to a specific ingredient or something like that. Um, what you can do is, is you can look at the ingredients on the back of your bottle. And if you're using the upgraded version of ChatGPT, which is super affordable by the way, um, you can even upload a picture of the back of the bottle and then ChatGPT can read that back of the bottle for you. And then it can talk about the different ingredients and break down to you which each of them are and explain them to you, so that way you can be more educated and you can offer a safer experience to your clients, um, or whatever it may be.

I think that's a pretty badass way of using ChatGPT. And then we're gonna get into, like, the classic stuff here, the things that you probably already thought about using it for. Obviously social media captions. Where you will go wrong with social media captions is if you do not have the fundamentals of your business figured out and actually understand strong marketing copy that will get clients into your door.

If you do not get that, if you've not gotten the education and done the work of that, this tool will, will help you, but it won't get you very far. But once you have that understanding and education and you've done that work, using this tool to create social media captions and help you polish the ones that m- maybe you've already created is so insanely powerful. So of course, helping you come up with social media captions, helping you come up with ideas for, uh, reels or the graphics and the content as well too is a really great way to use this platform. You could even ask it to create you, uh, to create reel ideas and then help you, uh, give it, uh, ask it to give you an, uh, uh, an exact step-by-step for how to create that reel, including scripts, incl- including how, which angles you hold your camera from, right?

So I think that's a really badass way, uh, to help you with content creation. Um, helping you with email newsletters and announcements and whatever it may be that you're sending text blasts, right? So helping you create that content in that sense as well. Another thing where you really want to understand the foundations and fundamentals of business, customer service, and copy, I guess, experience, um, to really maximize it and make it work well for you.

Same goes for what's next, which is your website copy. Dude, website copy is so important. And I don't... I would never let ChatGPT necessarily...

I would never go into ChatGPT and be like, "Write me a website copy for me as a hairstylist." I would follow, like, a proven structure or method like we have in our programs for, like, a website that converts, follow my methodology, and then use ChatGPT to help me come up with the words based upon my methodology or somebody else's methodology. That's how I would use it to create website copy. But website copy is a make or break for your marketing funnel.

So, um, having ChatGPT help you with making sure it's polished and, um, well-written I think is really powerfulThe next thing is profit and loss statements and bookkeeping reports and having ChatGPT look through those documents to be able to, uh, share with you anything that it analyzes or any suggestions it may have for you to be able to be more profitable, or, um, any takeaways that it has for you, um, or to help you... uh, share with you, like, you know, maybe where you can save more money or where you seem to be spending a lot of money you may not notice or something like that. Helping you discern a profit and loss statement or any of your bookkeeping could be really, really freaking cool. Maybe even helping you, um, figure out what your recurring subscriptions are that you may not be seeing, right?

Um, I think that that's a really awesome way to use ChatGPT is, um, mass data analysis and uploading the difficult documents that are tough for our brains to discern in a quick, easy way and then having ChatGPT do the work for you I think is badass. Alongside that, budget creation. ChatGPT can help you come up with, like, what your alloca- your budgeted allocation for your bi- your business expenses and the money that you spend, where it could go, um, and helping you come up with a better way to budget your money I think is a badass way to use it. Analyzing your feedback and client feedback forms and online reviews and your new client request forms as well too I think could be super fascinating.

So if you do client feedback forms, especially when you have, like, long texts and short text answers where people are just typing in whatever they want and they're not just answering a single choice or a multiple choice, I think is really, really badass because, you know, you can read all 15 of your submissions but it's difficult for you to, you know, then, uh, compile the common themes yourself unless you're really taking your time to do so. So just uploading all those submissions into ChatGPT and asking, "What are the common themes between all these client feedbacks that they're giving me? What are the biggest priorities of the things that you think I should focus on right now based upon this feedback?" And then having ChatGPT do that hard work for you and prioritize things for you I think is badass.

New client request forms. The way that you can analyze those and use ChatGPT with those is seeing the commonalities between all of the requests that you're getting. So where are most of these new clients coming from? What are they asking me for when they explain what they want, right?

Um, and that'll give you some really beautiful data that can- may help you with your marketing moving forward. Inventory trends. So if you keep track of your inventory ordering, um, if you keep track of... I mean, even if you get your invoice or your statement from, uh, your distributor when you order things and you're able to download that PDF or that CSV file or even copy and paste that information into ChatGPT, uh, you could ask it for trends of inventory that you're ordering the most and things that you're ordering the least.

That can be really, really helpful for you with your inventory management. And then another thing is just generally discerning confusing information in general. So maybe, uh, reading a lease offer that you got, um, reading a contract that you were, uh, proposed, right? Concern...

Uh, discerning anything that is a lot of information that is difficult for you to understand or that you want to just understand faster and get to the meat and the nitty-gritty of it. Um, giving ChatGPT that document or that text and then asking it to an- uh, to give you, like, the nitty-gritty and the short of it all I think is a really beautiful thing Um, local state laws or municipality laws or when tax laws change. That's my favorite way to use this. Um, again, this is not official legal advice at all, but I love, like, taking an official document or official statement so I know that this is actually the law and then putting it into ChatGPT and asking ChatGPT, like, what it means in, like, layman's terms, right?

For me, who's not a professional. I love using ChatGPT in that way. Salon decoration inspiration. I think for the holidays this is a really beautiful thing that you can do.

ChatGPT can, um, can create AI-generated images for you through its image generation AI called DALL-E. And so if you take a picture of your salon and then you upload it to ChatGPT, it'll spit back out, uh, pictures of a salon that it has a similar theme and style but is decorated in a certain way. So if you're like me and you got a- you have a little bit of difficult time, like, getting started with your ideas and themes for salon decoration, I think this is a really cool way to help with that. I just used ChatGPT to help me design my living room, uh, in my place that I just moved into recently and it did a beautiful job.

So, um, I think it's a really interesting way to use it. Staff training manuals. So if you're hiring a team, if you're gonna be, um, hiring an assistant, whatever it may be, um, helping you create a employee manual or handbook or guide, whatever it may be, I think it'd be a really badass way to use this. Standard operating procedure creation.

If you don't know what SOPs are, I want you to ask ChatGPT what an SOP is. So that's another thing that you can do with ChatGPT is ask it about terms that you're unfamiliar with But SOPs are basically a standardized way and system that you do things in, in a s- particular order. And SOPs can be really helpful for, um, when you're ready to hire somebody else or if you just need something that's gonna keep you on task and hold you accountable to getting things done and getting them done really easily in a consistent way. Um, I- I'm a big proponent of SOPs.

I think they're very helpful for doing consistent things in your business that you don't feel like doing. So creating those standard operating procedures with ChatGPT can be massively helpful and help you format it in a beautiful way. Search engine optimization keywords. So helping you figure out which keywords that you may want to be putting in your headlines, in your bios, in the SEO settings of your website, in your titles, et cetera, et cetera, to make it so you are as, uh, searchable as possible I think is a really interesting way to use ChatGPT.

And my last tip and way that you can use ChatGPT is with visual branding. So helping you come up with and decide on the visual branding aspects of your business such as with logos, um, or es- just aesthetics and colors in general, fonts that may be helpful, um, to further perpetuating the vibe that you're going for with your visual brand. Um, tho- those are other ways that you can use ChatGPT for visual branding. Okay.

So that was all 30 of our tips and tricks with how you can use ChatGPT. I hope that you'll be using one of them. If you are gonna use one of them and one of them were like, "Oh my God, I've never thought about using ChatGPT like this before," that really stuck out to you, could you please send me a DM @hairbyhunty on Instagram and let me know which one you're gonna be using? I would really appreciate it.

And don't forget, you don't have to listen to this episode again to get all these amazing ideas. You can just go to hunterdonia.com/chat. Hunterdonia.

com/chat or you can click that link in the show notes really easily and I'll send you over this list of all these 30 powerful ideas so you don't have to take the notes yourself. I hope that you loved this episode, my friend. So much love to you. Happy ChatGPT-ing and I'll catch you in the next episode.

So much love. Peace out, girl scout. Bye-bye.
